Trump Administration Pushes $6.4 Billion Weapons Sale to Israel Amid Intensifying Gaza War

WASHINGTON: The Trump administration is pressing Congress to approve a $6.4 billion arms package for Israel, including advanced attack helicopters, infantry carriers, and critical support parts, even as Israel ramps up its offensive in Gaza City.

The proposed deal one of the largest of its kind in recent years comes just days before world leaders gather at the United Nations General Assembly, where Gaza is expected to dominate high-level discussions.

According to sources, the package includes $3.8 billion for 30 AH-64 Apache helicopters, $1.9 billion for 3,250 infantry assault vehicles, and $750 million in parts for armored carriers and power systems.

The push underscores Trump’s unwavering support for Israel’s military campaign, in stark contrast to growing skepticism within the Democratic Party. Several Democratic senators recently backed a resolution urging recognition of a Palestinian state and voted against further arms transfers.

Israel’s military, meanwhile, said it had intensified strikes on Hamas targets in Gaza City, where hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians remain trapped with dwindling options to escape.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the pending sale, which still awaits congressional approval. The White House declined immediate comment.
