OTTAWA: Canada and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations during a high-level meeting on Tuesday between Canadian officials and Saudi Investment Minister His Excellency Khalid Al-Falih.
The meeting, hosted by Canadian counterparts in Ottawa, focused on expanding cooperation in investment, clean energy, technology, and infrastructure development, signaling a new chapter in the countries’ growing economic partnership.
In a statement following the talks, Canadian officials emphasized the importance of “building a forward-looking trade and investment relationship with Saudi Arabia that supports sustainable growth, innovation, and mutual prosperity.”

Minister Khalid Al-Falih underscored Saudi Arabia’s interest in deepening collaboration with Canada under the Vision 2030 framework Riyadh’s ambitious economic diversification plan particularly in areas such as renewable energy, mining, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.
Diplomatic observers say the renewed engagement between Ottawa and Riyadh reflects a broader effort by both nations to rebuild ties and pursue pragmatic economic diplomacy following years of limited contact.
The two sides agreed to explore joint investment opportunities, enhance business-to-business exchanges, and advance frameworks for sustainable development and innovation-driven growth.
