India Invited to Trump’s “Board of Peace” for Gaza Initiative

NEW DELHI: India has received an official invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join his newly proposed “Board of Peace” initiative, aimed at resolving global conflicts starting with Gaza, according to senior Indian government officials.

New Delhi has not yet confirmed whether it will accept the invitation, and the Ministry of External Affairs has not issued an official response. The invitation comes at a sensitive moment in U.S.–India relations, as trade talks remain stalled and Indian exports to the United States face tariffs of up to 50%, among the highest imposed by Washington. Despite these economic strains, both sides continue to engage diplomatically on security, technology, and regional stability.

Trump has reportedly invited more than 60 countries to participate in the initiative, including Pakistan, which has publicly stated its willingness to engage in international peace efforts in Gaza. The Board of Peace is expected to focus on post-war governance, humanitarian reconstruction, and long-term stability in the Palestinian enclave, while potentially expanding its mandate to other global conflict zones.

India’s potential participation reflects its growing diplomatic footprint and its longstanding position of supporting humanitarian relief and a negotiated solution in West Asia while maintaining strategic ties with both Israel and the Arab world.

The proposal has drawn mixed international reactions, with some countries welcoming a new multilateral framework for peacebuilding, while others express concern over how it may interact with existing United Nations-led mechanisms.
