LOS ANGELES: Taylor Swift is taking the high road after her ex-boyfriend Matt Healy’s mother, actress Denise Welch, took a subtle jab at her during a recent TV appearance.
Swift, 35, who briefly dated The 1975 frontman in 2023 following her split from actor Joe Alwyn, appeared to reference the short-lived romance in her chart-topping album The Tortured Poets Department. But Welch seemed less than pleased about that.
Appearing on Watch What Happens Live, Welch remarked, “I’m glad I lost the role of her mother-in-law,” adding that while she wasn’t allowed to publicly discuss the relationship, Taylor “writes a whole album about it.”
Despite the backhanded comment, Swift — now in a happy relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce — is staying silent.
A source told DailyMail.com, “Taylor thinks the remark was unnecessary, but she’s not going to let it affect her. If she ever chooses to respond, it’ll be through her music — not through interviews.”
While Swift reportedly still respects Welch, insiders say she won’t hesitate to address it creatively if the criticism continues.
