LIMA: Right-wing candidate Keiko Fujimori is leading Peru’s presidential race with 16.6%, according to an early exit poll released by Ipsos Peru on Sunday, signaling a highly fragmented electoral contest.
Leftist contender Roberto Sánchez follows with 12.1%, while center-left candidate Ricardo Belmont is close behind with 11.8%, highlighting a tight three-way competition.

Under Peru’s electoral system, a candidate must secure more than 50% of the vote to win outright. If no contender crosses this threshold, the top two candidates will advance to a runoff election scheduled for June 7.
The early results underscore a divided electorate, with no clear majority emerging in the first round of voting.
